Purina Walk for Dog Guides

Looking for a fun event to support Dog Guides? With the help of Lions Foundation of Canada, the Walk for Dog Guides is a terrific opportunity to help Canadians, and raise awareness about the activities and service of your Lions Club.

In over 100 communities across Canada, Lions Clubs organize fun walks to help raise funds for all three Dog guides programs: Canine Vision Canada, Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada, and Special Skills Dogs of Canada. Formerly known as the "Walk-A-Dog-A-Thon", local fund-raising walks for people and pets have been held since 1985, raising over $5 million for Dog Guide progams.

For more information on the Purina Walk for Dog Guides, click here.

Support from Lions Foundation of Canada includes:

  • A comprehensive "Organizers Guide" with helpful hints and suggestions for a successful event
  • Timely Step By Step Updates to prompt & to keep organizers on track
  • Great incentive prizes.
  • Eye-catching informative full colour pledge forms and posters
  • A Team Challenge for 4 or more co-workers to generate corporate interest
  • Media support including radio PSAs read by actress Sonja Smits and media releases

Participation in the Walk is free, and the events are created with people of all ages and abilities, with or without their canine companions. Fun events such as silly pooch contests help create a festive atmosphere . With the growing awareness of Dog Guides' contribution to people's lives, and the growing popularity of dogs as full members of the family, this is a Walk that can appeal to, and build loyalty among many.

Lions Clubs across Canada have responded enthusiastically to this event since 1985. If you would like to join Lions in this exciting fundraiser, send an email to info@dogguides.com for your own Organizer's Guide.
