Say “Hello!” to Newt! Newt is a 1.5-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever cross that was released from our program because he can be wary of new people, particularly men. He is a young dog who needs a home that can meet his exercise needs.
Newt is a happy guy that is still quite puppyish and is learning his manners. He will become mouthy when he’s overexcited, especially if his person is wearing gloves. There’s so many fun things to do that Newt can be busy in the house and likes to have a lot of chew toy options. His curiosity can get the best of him, and he likes to pick up stray socks or check the counters for leftover food. Newt would benefit from mental stimulation through puzzle toys as well as continued training and management. He is good in a crate and does well when left alone.
Newt gets along well with other dogs, and would enjoy a yard to run around in. He is good in the car and would love to go on new adventures with his family. He hasn’t had much interaction with children and due to his mouthing, he would do best in a home without children.
He is a smart dog that is eager to learn. He knows his basic cues well and has some formal training. He’s a cuddly dog looking for the right home that will set him up for success and provide the appropriate outlets for his puppy antics.
