Leave a Gift in your Will

One of the most popular ways to make a planned gift is by leaving a gift in your Will. You can add an amendment to your existing Will and give a specific amount of money, a piece of property, or a percentage of your Estate. By carefully planning a gift in your Will, you can eliminate the taxes payable on death.

See our sample wording for your Will

Sample Wording for your Will
The name you should include in your Will to make a gift is “Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides” Charitable Registration #13024 5129 RR0001.

LEGACY BEQUEST
“My Estate trustees shall pay the sum of $ _______ (or transfer assets with an equal value) to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, for the purpose of supporting its highest priority needs.”

RESIDUAL BEQUEST
“My Estate trustees shall pay _______ (all or %) of the residue of my Estate to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, for the purpose of supporting its highest priority needs.”

Gifts of Securities

Donating publicly traded stocks and securities provides a tax-advantage way to support Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. When you make a gift of stocks, you receive a tax receipt for the fully appreciated value of your gift, and you will not have to pay tax on any realized capital gains. The receipt value will reflect the closing price on the date of transfer. The standard capital gain inclusion rate of 50 percent on selling shares is eliminated when you transfer your shares to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides rather than selling the stocks and donating the proceeds.  Just provide this  Gift of Securities Form  to your Broker and ask that they transfer your shares to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Life Insurance Gifts

A gift of life insurance lets you support our mission in a significant way. By paying modest life insurance premiums today and naming Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides as a beneficiary, you can make a meaningful gift that demonstrates your commitment to supporting Canadians living with disabilities.

One way to leave this gift is to designate Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides as the beneficiary of your own policy or the life insurance policy provided by your employer. Your Estate will receive a tax receipt equal to the direct benefit to our organization. In this way, you create your legacy and benefit your heirs through a significant tax reduction.

A second option is to purchase a new policy, name Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides as the owner, and receive tax receipts, during your lifetime, for any premiums paid after the date of transfer.

Endowment Fund

An endowment fund makes your gift last well into the future. Endowment funds are permanently invested and the interest generated annually from the investment is used to support the Dog Guide programs. For gifts of $10,000 or more, an endowment can be established in your name or the name of a family member.

RRSPs or TFSAs

If you own a RRSP or Tax-Free Savings Account, you can choose to designate Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides as the beneficiary.

Naming our organization as a beneficiary of your RRSP is a simple and powerful way to make a lasting impact. You retain full control of your retirement savings throughout your lifetime, and your estate may benefit from valuable tax credits. By choosing to leave a gift in this way, you help ensure that our mission continues for generations to come.
