Introducing, MONA!
This affectionate and playful girl is happiest when she is right by her person’s side, preferably close
enough for a cuddle or to even be in your lap! Mona is a social girl who enjoys being part of the action
and has grown up in a busy household where she was comfortable with plenty of activity and visitors.
Mona is friendly with people from all walks of life, she has never met a person she didn’t like! She can
become excited when greeting people but has made progress with learning to keep her paws on the
ground. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and is always eager to make new friends. She can
sometimes be a little persistent when trying to engage another dog or cat in play, so she will benefit
from continued guidance around respecting when another animal is finished playing.
Mona has lovely leash manners and generally walks nicely without pulling. She is comfortable passing
other dogs and shows little interest in chasing birds or squirrels. She enjoys being outdoors, particularly
in the snow, but may decide that rainy, muddy, or very hot weather is not for her! Mona also travels
well in the car, settling down for a nap once she has had a chance to take in the scenery.
Mona’s biggest area for continued growth is her home behaviour. She is a curious, busy girl who enjoys
exploring and has a history of counter surfing, stealing household items, or chewing things she
shouldn’t. She may turn these discoveries into an invitation to play “chase,” so adopters will need to use
appropriate management and supervision while helping her learn more appropriate choices. A new
home and routine will be a big transition for Mona, making consistency and setting her up for success
especially important.
Mona is a busy girl who does best when both her physical and mental needs are met. She loves getting
out for adventures, playing fetch, learning new tricks, and working for her food. Incorporating activities
such as enrichment toys, puzzle feeders, training sessions, and new experiences into her daily routine
will be important for helping Mona stay happy and fulfilled. With plenty of appropriate outlets for her
energy and curiosity, along with consistent guidance and supervision in the home, Mona will make a fun,
affectionate, and devoted companion
