A charming, affectionate poodle who forms deep bonds with his people and loves having a job to do.
Wonton is a highly intelligent boy who thrives when he’s mentally and physically engaged. He walks beautifully on leash, does well in his crate, and truly enjoys working alongside his handler. He is eager to please and quick to learn, making him a very rewarding companion for someone who enjoys training and building a strong partnership with their dog. One of Wonton’s favourite things is using his nose—he has been introduced to scent work and would love a home that continues to explore activities that allow him to put that skill to good use. He also has an impressive ball drive and could happily play fetch for hours before curling up for some well-earned cuddles.
Wonton is extremely affectionate and loves being close to his people. Whether it’s relaxing at home or checking in during a walk, he wants to be part of whatever you’re doing. He has limited experience with children, but given his friendly and social nature with people, he should do well with respectful kids.
While Wonton shines in many areas, he does need the right environment to be successful. He can be reactive when he sees other dogs and requires a handler who will stay engaged with him and continue working on this behaviour. He has a history of being intolerant with dogs, so he is looking for a home where he can be the only dog, and with a family that does not plan on visiting dog parks.
In the right home, Wonton will be a devoted, loving companion who gives his whole heart to his people. With structure, enrichment, and plenty of affection, he will truly thrive.
