Introducing, MARSHAL!

Marshal is a big, goofy, full-of-life boy who experiences the world at maximum enthusiasm. If joy had a body, it might look a lot like Marshal – bouncy greetings, playful energy, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging.

Marshal was fostered in a quiet, adult-only home and is still learning how to navigate more exciting environments. New people, dogs, and outings are all very thrilling for him, and he tends to greet the world with big feelings and even bigger energy. He’s had limited exposure to kids but given his gentle nature, he should do just fine around them with a few reminders to stay calm and keep all 4 paws on the ground.

On leash, Marshal can be a bit unpredictable. He can heel beautifully and clearly knows what’s being asked of him, but when excitement strikes, his strength can come out of nowhere. Due to this, Marshal will do best with a confident, physically capable handler who is committed to continuing his leash training.

Marshal can also get a little silly when he knows he’s about to go outside. Sometimes putting on his equipment can turn into a game that includes barking, grumbling, play bows, or even a brief attempt to tug with his leash. This behaviour is inconsistent and can be managed with treats or calm follow-through, but adopters should be prepared to work on this behavior.

Crating has been hit or miss for Marshal. In calm environments, he settles well, but busy spaces with lots going on can be frustrating for him. He may have a touch of separation anxiety, so a home that can provide structure, patience, and thoughtful transitions will help him succeed.

At the end of the day, Marshal is a big, lovable goof who wants to do well, he just hasn’t quite figured out how to manage his enthusiasm in a large body yet. He’s eager to please, full of heart, and would thrive in a home that understands big dogs, big feelings, and is excited to help him become the very best version of himself.
