Introducing, DINO!
Dino is a bright, energetic poodle who is looking for a family ready to keep his clever mind and busy
body engaged! He is a happy, affectionate boy who has plenty of personality and would thrive with an
adopter who enjoys getting out and about with their dog.
Dino is an active guy and benefits from a good morning walk or another outlet to burn off some energy.
Starting his day with some exercise helps set him up for success throughout the rest of the day. On
walks, Dino does quite well, especially when his handler stays engaged with him. Verbal praise,
encouragement, and a few yummy snacks go a long way in helping him stay focused. He is still working
on his recall, as he can be selective about when he decides to come back, so his adopter will need to
continue building this skill with him.
Dino enjoys the company of other dogs, although he can become quite excited during play and may
need regular breaks to help him settle and catch his breath. He also loves children, but his enthusiasm
can sometimes get the better of him, resulting in some jumpy behaviour. For this reason, we think Dino
would be happiest in a home with older children who are comfortable around an energetic dog.
While Dino has many wonderful qualities, his adopter should be prepared to continue working with him
on his home behaviours. Dino is a playful, mischievous guy who finds great joy in stealing items he
knows he shouldn’t have, hoping someone will chase him around the house. His adopter will need to be
patient and consistent about teaching him what is appropriate to chew and play with, while also helping
him learn that not every stolen item needs to become a game of chase!
Crate training is another important area where Dino needs continued support. He does not currently
enjoy being in his crate, and his adopter will need to be committed to helping him build a more positive
association with it through patience, consistency, and gradual training. This will take time and shouldn’t
be rushed.
Dino also loves putting his landscaping skills to work in the backyard, so he will need supervision outside
to discourage his enthusiastic digging and grass-ripping.
With an adopter who can provide structure, exercise, training, and patience, Dino has all the makings of
a fun and entertaining companion
