Yardley is a big, lovable goofball with the heart of a puppy and plenty of personality to match. He’s an
affectionate, people-oriented dog who enjoys being close to his humans and soaking up attention.
Yardley is also doing well with his basic obedience and responds nicely when given clear direction.
He walks fairly well on leash and is happy to head out for adventures, though he can be a bit strong at
times. Around the home, he settles nicely when his needs are met and is content to relax or entertain
himself with his toys. However, he has also been known to sneak off with socks, mitts, hats, or tea
towels if given the opportunity. Providing him with appropriate outlets to burn off both mental and
physical energy will be key to helping him stay calm and successful in the home. He’s excellent in his
crate, happily going in for daytime naps or sleeping soundly overnight.
Yardley’s “puppy in a big dog’s body” nature can sometimes get him into trouble. When he becomes
overexcited or overwhelmed, he can be unpredictable. His excitement can quickly escalate into jumping
up and becoming very mouthy, grabbing at hands or clothing. In these moments, it can be challenging to
help him settle back down. This behaviour can also show up during routine moments like getting ready
for a walk, where he may jump around and bite at his leash or collar.
Yardley gets along with other dogs, but he can become overly enthusiastic and may need reminders to
keep his manners in check, including some humpy behaviour when he’s especially excited. Finding the
right playmates is important.
Yardley is looking for an experienced, patient home that understands his needs and is committed to
continuing his training. With consistency, structure, and guidance, Yardley has all the makings of a
wonderful companion. As he matures, his sweet and affectionate nature will truly shine.
